As graduate assistant, Alexandra Smith is responsible for providing research assistance in information gathering, data management, analysis, and writing tasks for assigned institute projects. With an extensive background in quantitative research and the empirical application of advanced topics in econometrics and psychometrics, Alexandra has worked with diverse populations in conjunction with universities, nonprofits, NGOs, and state-run justice agencies in the areas of juvenile justice, recidivism prevention, victim services, gender-based violence, white-collar crime, and program evaluation. Prior to joining the Institute, she held teaching and research positions at University of Maryland, the SAFE Center for Survivors of Human Trafficking at UMD, University of New Haven, and the State of Maryland Judiciary Administrative Office of the Courts. Alexandra holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Victim Service Administration from the University of New Haven and is a master’s degree candidate in UMD's Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
